This lacked the charisma of Arnold’s ‘Pumping Iron’. It is an interesting perspective into the highly commercialized world of professional bodybuilding. The once $1000 grand prize is now $1 million and the players seem to stake the meaning of their existence on winning the coveted Olympia. Better bodybuilders existed in the 70’s and 80’s, Generation Iron displays how this is has disappeared and enjoying the journey of developing a body into a work of art is now nothing more than a paycheck. Arnold praised other bodybuilders as they posed in Pumping Iron.  The Pros in Generation Iron trash talk each other.  However, the documentary does to a good job of showing how all or nothing destroys the losers where they should have had a backup plan.
